We just got back from Chicago, it was short and sweet, but so worth the visit, met so many lovely folks, and connected with some new accounts.
I got a points deal, meaning I stayed at the Ritz Carlton for the price of staying at the Moxy. What a treat. Nice space, although a bit of a retirement home, most guests where pushing 80. Please enjoy this week’s letter, it’s a fun one.
Today’s letter includes:
Alinea hits Brooklyn: The Michelin three-star Chicago restaurant is popping up at Olmsted.
The revolving restaurant in Times Square is back. Yes, really.
The hottest new cocktail bars in LA that we can’t wait to visit.

Alinea Comes to Brooklyn (Prospect Heights)
Grant Achatz is bringing his famous Chicago tasting menu to Olmsted for a limited-time pop-up. If you missed your chance to try Alinea without flying to Illinois, now’s the moment. Expect elaborate presentations, experimental flavors, and a hefty price tag.

The View (Times Square)
NYC’s only revolving restaurant is back, now under the leadership of Danny Meyer. It’s still spinning atop the Marriott Marquis, but this time with better food. Think chophouse classics and cocktails with pastrami spice from Katz’s. A tourist trap you might actually want to try.

Le Crocodile (Williamsburg)
Brooklyn’s favorite French brasserie has new menu additions, and I’m here to report that the wild ham sandwich is the unexpected star. Served with mustard and pain de mie, it’s worth stopping by just for that. Also they serve Sueprgay!

Thunderbolt (Echo Park, LA)
This under-the-radar LA bar has been making noise with its Southern-inspired cocktails, low-proof spritzes, and laid-back energy. Think frozen Irish coffees and easygoing bartenders who actually care about what you like to drink.

Rumors & Quick Bites
Dame's wine bar project is on hold. The team behind one of NYC’s most beloved seafood spots was set to open a new natural wine bar, but rumors say construction delays have pushed the timeline back indefinitely.
The Spotted Pig 2.0? A new concept is reportedly being developed by former staffers of the infamous West Village gastropub. The location is still under wraps, but expect old-school NYC industry folks to be keeping tabs.

Cocktail of the Week: The Slow Spin
Inspired by the return of the revolving restuarant in Times Square:
1 oz Supergay Vodka
½ oz amontillado sherry
½ oz green chartreuse
½ oz lemon juice
¼ oz honey syrup
1 dash orange bitters
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a thin lemon peel. Pairs well with losing track of time and avoiding responsibilities.
